A LotRO Cosmetic History
Muiriol is a shing-shing champion, and the big plate-or-scale heavy armour sets never really feel right for her – she’s here to cut things, not be weighed down by bulky, inflexible armour. I decided to try for something more like a samurai look. I thought I’d use the Festive Azure Tunic & Trousers as the main piece, dyed something other than blue, since that’s their default, but it didn’t look right without a shoulder piece and I didn’t find one that quite fit. So I went digging through the Classics at a skirm camp, and of course the loremasters get the coolest robes.
Head: Ceremonial Helm of the Gloom-bane, Shire plum
Chest: Lore-keeper’s Robe, Shire plum
Feet: Boots of the Valleys, undyed (looks like burgundy)
Bow: Peerless Silver Ilex Bow (crafted)
Main hand: Malendol’s Sword (epic quest reward, II.9.6)
Off hand: Malendol’s Sword
For an alternate ‘mood’, I also like this robe with the Medium Nadhin Mask from Dol Amroth, dyed to match the robe:
Most dyes seem to match well between either head piece and the robe and look good, so it doesn’t have to be as pricey as Shire Plum – indigo would probably be my second choice, or maybe crimson. Or forest green. Or…heck, I like most of them.
